Dazzle

Dazzle is a design research exploration I have been working on along with Jörn Lemke. The project focuses on the use of optical illusion in everyday objects. We conducted some research into different forms of optical illusions and how they can be incorporated into the physical form of a ping pong racket. Our final prototype is made using a 3D printer and has a white leather surface. One side is kept without a pattern while the second one shows an optical illusion which seems to move when the player looks at it. We used a laser cutter to produce the surface cover and etch the pattern into it.
